Dell Avenue Rock consists primarily of a puddingstone ledge arising approximately 40 feet above Hyde Park Avenue. There are some outcrops near the top of the rock. The site is dominated by woodland, comprised of small and medium sized maples, oaks, cherry, and birch with sparse, grassy ground cover. This site provides a pleasant visual buffer along a busy, dense stretch of Hyde Park Avenue. Views from the top of the rock overlook the Stony Brook Reservation and in the winter there are views of the Blue Hills. The open, grassy areas on the lower portion of the site provide a quiet retreat for picnics or reading.

Designed by the famed Donald Ross as a WPA project in the 1930s, George Wright was built on a site unfit for a golf course. There was too much ledge, and what wasn't ledge was hill and wetland. If environmentalists had the say 70 years ago that they do today, this golf course never would have been built. George Wright is at the mercy of the elements. The antiquated drainage system needs work, and since there isn't an irrigation system, the course's conditions are fickle. Too much rain and it becomes a swamp. And when there is a drought, the fairways are burned out. Then again, this is one of the best golf buys in the Boston area. Maybe we have become too accustomed to manicured conditions. Maybe it is more courageous to hit shots from hard-pan lies occasionally. It's the way the game was played a century ago. This is a public golf course that has a large committee called the Friends of George Wright that work with Mayor Menino's office in order to keep Boston's golf courses beautiful.

The city refurbished the basketball courts in recent years, users said, and the children's play equipment is in mint condition. One of two water fountains was working. For a city park, it doesn't need any improvements," said 51-year-old Derryl Hopkins, who plays basketball there several times a week. I think Tommy [Menino] has done a great job with the parks."

This site is a very steep slope below the Beechmont Footway, which connects Beech Avenue to Ashville Street, in the Clarendon Hills section of Hyde Park. The slope descends to the backyards of houses on Windham Road. The site is densely wooded with maples, oak, hickory, birch, and cherry. Monterey Hilltop provides residents with a lush wooded area in a built-up area of primarily single-family houses. Furthermore, it provides a nice view to those walking along the Beechmont Footway. The homes abutting the site, along Windham Street, particularly benefit by having the wooded area directly adjacent to their backyards. Given the severity of the slope, access through the site is not feasible

The Moynihan Wading Pool is located here and has a water depth between one inch and two feet, and admission is free. Just up the road is the Martini Shell, a bandstand decorated with images of creatures and plants. Both the Moynihan Playground and the Martini Shell lawn link the residential neighborhood to the Neponset River.

This free park hosts a platform of metal, concrete, and asphalt. Show off your skills on one of the many hand rails or do a trick or two on the loading dock. Other features include a mini ramp and manual pads. An interpretative sign highlights the history of the canal and commemorates the construction of the park. The wild affords pleasant, secluded views of the Motherbrook and a bordering wetland. Oaks dominate the site although a large number of elm, crabapple, and sumac have also rooted on the land. Because much of the land appears to be fill, growing conditions are harsh, thus favoring invasive plants such as oriental bittersweet, multiflora rose, and Norway maple. Nevertheless, with proper restoration with native, riparian plants, the area can support a larger diversity of plants and animals. The Skate Park is part of Reservation Road Park, which includes a football/soccer/lacrosse field, and parking.
