Townsend's is the culmination of a of a long cherished dream of Michael and Rosaleen Tallon to open a comfortable, upscale restaurant lounge in their home village of Hyde Park. Mike and Rosaleen partnered with Executive Head Chef Stephen Hoddinott and Executive Sous Chef Michael Bettencourt, and the team believes that it is possible to have a warm, intimate and friendly atmosphere while maintaining a strong commitment to their profession and its etiquette.
The atmosphere of this spacious and bright two floor locale calls to mind a homey Irish pub; an inviting staff greets patrons at the door. Their upscale pub menu features a moules frites section offering several style of each that can be paired or ordered individually, appetizers, and entrees. Selections range from new twists on pub classics, like a rethought Shepherd's Pie and a Waygu beef burger, to a more traditional fish and chips plate.
The proprietors believe in the melding of fine beers, as well as wines, with food. To this end, there is an extensive draft and bottle beer selection that is updated constantly. Their 15 draught selection include Guiness, Murphy's, Smitchick's, and Stone IPA.

Very solid upscale pub food with an impressive draught beer selection. I've been twice now and have tried their poutine fries, pate, lamb shank, and shepherd's pie. I was underwhelmed by the lamb shank, but everything else was great. The pate, swimming in truffle oil, is a decadent treat, and their take on shepherd's pie, featuring a corn cake and blue potatoes, was surprisingly delightful.
